Lead Testing in Drinking Water

Lead in drinking water comes from corrosion of pipes/faucets/other fixtures that contain lead.

But there's not JUST lead that can dissolve into your drinking water.

The Residential Pipe Corrosion Package (See Test Packages) covers a variety of metals that can leach into drinking water.

If your water source is a well or spring.....

Have the water tested to see if it is corrosive to the metal plumbing.  Then treatment can be applied along with replacement of old metal piping and fixtures with newer pipe and fixtures.

If your water source is a public water supply....

Have the water tested to see if it is corrosive to metal plumbing.  Then you can decide if you need to replace your home pipes and plumbing with new material pipes and fixtures.

There are two (2) ways to test for Lead in Drinking Water.

1)  The first water out of the tap (the worst case scenario) after the water has been sitting unused in the pipes for at least 6 hours

2)  Water collected after the tap has been run1-5 minutes.  This is more closely what a person might be exposed to on a regular basis.

When reading about lead results in drinking water, it is important that you determine WHICH is being reported.
